Our History
Dr. Nancy New, a prominent educator in Mississippi, recognized that many students across Mississippi and Louisiana were in need of educational services that could reach them in their remote locations.  In 2001, Dr. New introduced New Learning Resources Online distance learning services. Using paper-driven curriculum and assessments, students from public and private schools were enrolling and completing correspondence courses at an increasing rate.  As the demand for correspondence courses continued to increase across the two states, New Learning Resources Online developed additional high school courses to meet this need.
In 2003, the program offered enough standard high school courses to help students earn their high school diplomas.  The desire to see more students outside these two states achieve their academic goals led Dr. Nancy New to design an online program that could deliver courses entirely from a distance.  New Learning Resources Online's learning management system was developed and released to the public in 2006.
Today, New learning Resources Online serves as the distance learning division of North New Summit School. NLRO is an accredited member of the distance education and training council (DETC), the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE), and the Southern Association of Colleges and School Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI).
